Motor protection switches
Motor protection switches are devices designed to protect electric motors against overloads, short circuits and overheating. Installed upstream of the motor, they automatically cut off the power supply in the event of operating faults, safeguarding the integrity of the motor and the safety of the system. Elettra offers a complete line-up of modular and versatile motor protection switches. Among these, the MBS25N, MBS32N and MBS63N series offer effective solutions for protecting motors of different power ratings, ensuring high flexibility.
MBS25N
Compact and robust motor protection switches, suitable for thermal and magnetic protection of induction motors up to 15kW at 400V AC, usable in both AC and DC systems. Equipped with a modular front panel with control buttons and trimmers for current adjustment, they are particularly appreciated for their ease of use and the variety of accessories available.
Accessories: auxiliary contacts (internal or lateral), trip relays, shunt trips (current-operated or minimum voltage), IP41/IP55 insulating enclosures, mushroom buttons and connection bars.
MBS32N
Rotary motor protection switches with breaking capacity up to 100kA up to size 20A in the NH version and 50kA up to 10A, 25-10kA for higher ratings in the NG version. Designed for on-board machine applications and for installation on electrical control switchboards, they visually signal the protection intervention (trip) thanks to the position of the switch, with the possibility of padlocking.
They are compatible with IE3 high-efficiency motors, including N/H and NE/HE versions that require AC-3 category.
Accessories: front and side auxiliary contacts, trip relays, shunt trips with advance contacts, delayed manoeuvres with door lock, IP65 enclosures and connection bars.
MBS63N
This series is available with both thermal and magnetic protection or in a magnetic-only version, suitable for protecting motors in both on-board applications and installations in electrical control switchboard. Available in two versions: ‘S’ (up to 25kA) and ‘H’ (up to 50kA), it is ideal for industrial applications where high performance and maximum safety are required.
Accessories: front and side auxiliary contacts, trip relays, current or minimum voltage shunt trip devices, delayed door lock operation and connection bars.

Designed for installation on board machines and electrical control switchboard, they visually indicate the protection intervention (trip) through the position of the switch and offer the possibility of padlocking.
