GASTONE BELLINI
Our Roots: The Founder
Gastone Bellini was born in Padova on 16th October 1924, into a humble family of limited means
After serving in the Italian army during the Second World War, he resolved to turn the challenges of the post-war period into opportunities. Driven by the industrial renaissance and the rapid development of the electrical sector, he pursued a degree in electrical engineering, fascinated by the innovations that were transforming industry and domestic life.
Despite academic recognition and the offer of a university teaching position, Gastone declined, choosing instead to pursue his dream: making emerging technologies accessible to as many people as possible. Guided by this vision, he approached the German giant AEG, a leader in the electrical sector, securing a licence as an agent. This marked the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey by founding the company Strem in the mid-1950s.
With Strem, Engineer Bellini began selling a wide range of products door to door throughout the Triveneto region, including power tools, motors, household appliances, and low-voltage equipment
It was a time of great effort and sacrifice, but his commitment and dedication soon began to bear fruit. The company grew, the workforce expanded, and it wasn’t long before the warehouse space proved insufficient to sustain this growth. From the outset, Bellini demonstrated sharp business acumen, recognising the need to take the next step.
In 1976, in response to the success of low-voltage equipment and the growing demands of an expanding clientele, he founded a new company: Elettra, in homage to the daughter of Guglielmo Marconi, pioneer of wireless telegraphy.
With Elettra, Gastone aimed to specialise in the production of automation panels, offering an exclusive and innovative service in a rapidly developing market.
This decision proved to be a winning one, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the company, which would continue to grow and flourish under the stewardship of the Bellini family.
The Second Generation:
Expansion and Digitalisation
In 1987, the company experienced a pivotal moment with the arrival of the second generation of the Bellini family, ushering in a wave of innovation and growth. Marco Bellini, now Sales Director, began his journey within the company by driving the development of a widespread and specialised commercial network, which within a few years would extend across the entire national territory.
Thanks to his strategic vision and ability to forge strong relationships, Marco played a key role in expanding the market and establishing Elettra as a benchmark in the sector.
Shortly afterwards, Mario Bellini, now Administrative and Financial Director, joined the team, bringing a strong focus on management innovation.
His attention to organisational efficiency led him to implement cutting-edge IT systems, leading Elettra to be one of the first companies in the sector to introduce automated processes and rigorous control over financial and production flows. His forward-thinking approach not only optimised internal operations but also laid the foundations for the sustainable and structured growth that still defines the company today.
During this period, Fabio Carraro also joined the team. Now Head of Technical Development, his contribution proved instrumental in the company’s technological advancement.
With his brilliance and innovative spirit, Fabio became the driving force behind all technical initiatives, playing a central role in the development of new solutions and technologies. These innovations not only enabled Elettra to remain at the forefront of the sector but, in some cases, to become a market leader.
The arrival of this new team marked more than just a generational transition: a decisive turning point in the company’s history
The combination of Marco’s commercial insight, Mario’s managerial efficiency, and Fabio’s technical expertise transformed Elettra into a modern, dynamic enterprise, ready to meet the challenges of the future.
THE THIRD GENERATION
The Future is Now
2023 marked the entry of the third generation of the Bellini family. Humbly and with an eagerness to learn, Mattia and Leonardo brought fresh energy and innovative ideas to the company. Both are focused on strengthening Elettra’s marketing efforts: Mattia oversees communications, while Leonardo is dedicated to commercial marketing.
Thanks to their contribution, Elettra has expanded with the creation of three new strategic teams: Marketing & Communication, People & Culture, and Information Systems.
This evolution is driven by a modern vision that seeks to harmonise tradition with the demands of the future.
Although respect for the family heritage remains firmly rooted, the company is deeply committed to introducing sustainable practices aimed at reducing environmental impact and contributing to a more responsible future. In addition, a new work-life balance is encouraged, recognising the importance of creating an environment in which individuals can realise their full potential without compromising their personal well-being.
The centrality of human resources, the creation of a modern and appealing brand image, and the adoption of state-of-the-art digital tools are today crucial elements to keep the company competitive and projected into the future.
Just as founder Gastone Bellini once imagined, the family’s journey continues with the same passion and determination, ready to write new chapters of a story that continues to inspire.
